Gibraltar International Airport

With the iconic ‘rock' looming ever closer and its runway jutting into the sea, often buffeted by strong cross winds, Gibraltar International Airport is one of the most scenic and scary airports in the world to fly into. Once landed though and through passport control, the airport is also one of the most convenient being only 400 metres from the city centre and a couple of minutes walk from the Spanish border post. Looked at from a certain angle, the triangular shaped roof on the modern terminal building resembles the shape of the Rock of Gibraltar's peak.

The modern look of the building and predominantly glass facade continues within the terminal where there is well appointed check in desks and comfortable seating. Although it sees an ever expanding number of flights each year, in international terms the airport is not a busy one with a maximum of 50 departures per week, 48 of those to various UK airports and 2 to Casablanca in Morocco. Monarch and EasyJet operate the majority of flights to and from Gibraltar International Airport, followed by British Airways and Royal Air Maroc.
